Diabetes is a subject matter we should all be concerned about, especially in view of the fact that a very large number of people in this country have this disease. 40% of all new diabetes cases is this country are our young people between the ages of 10-17. This was something unheard of in young people 20 years ago. Weight training can be called Muscle Medication.  Austrian Scientist did a study and found that people with type 2 diabetes, who started weight training, significantly lowered their blood sugar levels, improving their condition.What makes weight training so effective in the treatment of diabetes, is that it not only fights the fat that  puts you at risk, but it also improves your sensitivity to the hormone insulin and this helps to keep your blood sugar under control, reducing the likelihood that you will develop diabetes. Weight training builds more muscle mass and it improves sensitivity to insulin receptors so that they absorb glucose more easily.  It is good to know that weight training gives you this benefit immediately! Weight training  also helps to improve the functioning of the Immune System. A healthy functioning immune system is a subject matter we should all be concerned about. This is because it can make a difference in how long you live, and while you live how  effective your immune system fights for you when you become ill. A healthy functioning immune system can even make you a cancer survivor as well as reverse a disease you may unknowingly have. This is why it is so important to take every preventative measure possible to improve the functioning of your immune system. One of the many preventative steps we can take to improve immune system function is to make weight training a weekly part of our exercise routine, The immune system is defined as a complex organization of cells, chemical reactions, tissues and organs that help the body ward off some forms of disease, germs and pathogenic microorganisms. Physical activity, such as weight training, affects the way the immune system works, just like nutrition. Weight training  enhances the effectiveness of how well your immune system works. When  your weight train, your body temperature increases while you work-out and this helps fight germs and increases blood flow to  nourish your cells, and all of this  strengthens your immune system. You can look at weight training as the ammunition you need to fight your bodies battles!  Weight training also sends white blood cells through the body at a quicker rate and because these cells circulate  more rapidly, they can detect illness earlier than normal. This early detection is important so that hormones are released that warn the immune  system cells of intruding bacteria and viruses. We have all heard the saying: "EARLY DETECTION", and it is good to know that each one of us have the ability to help our bodies detect illness early with weight training. A very important reason to weight train is that you will age gracefully. This was truly a revelation to me to learn that weight training can help me age with grace. Aging gracefully means you feel better and look better. Stronger muscles and joints can have a dramatic impact on posture and leaner toned muscles tend to make everyone feel better about their appearance. This all leads to improved self-esteem and increased  confidence. We all  have slow-twitch muscle fibers and fast-twitch muscle fibers. Your fast twitch muscle fibers are largely responsible for generating power, a combined measure of strength and speed. This attributes to peak performance in the daily things we do, such as rise from that living room chair. Something as simple as rising up from a chair can become difficult as we age if we fail to weight train this muscle group. So then, the secret to turning back the clock is  PUMPING IRON, and whether you  do heavy or light weight training, it will be effective in helping your body  AGE  WITH  GRACE!!
